Noise&Light

Brian was away visiting a friend this weekend and Moses went to visit his Dad. My house was so quiet I could barely stand it and listened to music the entire time. My family is like a song..In addition,one of my favorite things about our home is how much light comes into our windows.. when it's cloudy I'm just not as happy. So there you have it... Apparently I'm addicted... to Noise&Light. Happy Tuesday. What are you addicted to?

~Breathing~

my summer has been sweet and slow.. with lots of projects and summer happenings. Talks and plans of big little things. Watching apples grow, planting 4 types of mint, bonfires in our backyard... Looking and trying for a possible career change in the future.. If you stop swimming you will just sink. I am always trying to evolve and not confine my mind and soul into one box. right now we are just breathing... Letting the summer air fill our lungs and minds.

I rediscovered my love of something recently.....Popcorn...but not just any popcorn. It's Orville Redenbacher's Natural Lime & Salt Popcorn Mini Bags. In one minute I'm transported to tropical popcorn-y goodness...my word it is AWESOME! So I have some tasty recipes that I want to try so that I don't get burnt(pun intended) on it.

~Boos-day~

so far this week has been immensely disappointing.... especially today. Yesterday, I stepped in a giant pile of BBQ sauce packets in the Walmart parking lot. Then I got home and Moses and I made that "tasty" recipe I posted for Monday fun. 'Twas AWFUL. Super salty, crumbly, and disappointing(however the dog liked it so I cut it up in bars and put in the freezer for an occasional high fiber high protein treat). Today, I could NOT find my sewing machine pedal and I haven't since I moved out of my old house. I will probably end up ordering one on Ebay and they run about $65.00! Also, you may have heard that Venus in in transit and was passing in front of the sun. Thanks to the cloudiest day in town history (possible exaggeration) we were unable to see it, missing our once in this lifetime opportunity to see such a celestial miracle. Since I wasn't able to sew I started stripping the paint off of a thrifted antique mirror today. After the first coat, I could clearly see I had bought the most painted old mirror ever. I managed to count 5 different colors in a chipped spot I found so it looks like that will be an all week project. I guess some good things happened yesterday & today too but somedays and sometimes you just need a "boos-day". Something that did make me smile today was looking at one of our apple trees against the clouds. It was our weakest and sickliest one but Brian nursed it back to life.

Things have been going fast and busy. I'm looking forward to my first real week off for the summer. Our free time has been filled with mowing all the properties, repairs & painting &cleaning at our old house. Moses has had more than normal doctors appointments while we try to figure some stuff out. My Dad just had his colostomy reversed  and is finally back home and healing. Some of our other family members are still having severe health issues that we are praying start to mend, heal and vanish. We miss them healthy and have so many things we would like to share with them! Brian and I REALLY would like to do an old fashioned Belcher camping trip to Holly River with his family once his Dad is well. Traditions like those are made to stay alive forever. On a different subject our time hasn't really been "our time" since after the honeymoon. Every weeknight and weekend has been stuffed with responsibilities and obligations with little time for good times up until the past few weekends. We decided this past Saturday to take a day trip and it was so so good for Brian and I to refocus and decompress as a couple. I have some more fun things planned for this week....

~Salad Mix~

 Very first gardening blog post of this year!! Salad Mix is random nonsensical gardening tips or tricks. I've been viewing homemade compost bin making videos in hopes to make our own before summer hits. They are all just completely cheesy but very informative. Here is one that was the most cheesy but also the most easy. They broke it down into very easy steps that almost anyone can follow. ~8 Days a Week: Hey Shady Friday 13th~

lamps have nothing to do with Friday the 13th with us....but they have been something I've been searching for and I know what I want even though I couldn't find it an image of it online.. I'll know it when I see it and I refuse to pay more than $20.00 for a set(probably at an estate sale).. Yes, I'm cheap and difficult and I'm my own worst enemy. Believe me..I KNOW. But I'm also content with my final decisions and I take time to get the right thing. I'm picky. Here is a sample of what I'm looking for.... I guess you could call it drip glaze pottery but I want the textures to be different and I want them to be more pear shaped.. these are all very lovely though! images-1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8      they all have great but different looks,colors and even shades. I would take any of them if I found them tomorrow. I will continue my exciting treasure hunt for big ugly Brady Bunch lamps that I'm sure everyone else will hate except me. Time to turn off my lights. ~m
