~ Wedding Ideas~

Brian and I wanted a smaller simple wedding that is low in cost but high in fun.We are doing alot of things ourselves(decorations, etc.)and we are avoiding alot of the traditional stuff that society makes you think you have to do for a wedding. I will let you guys see some sneak peeks... with a little more than 5 months to go we have gotten alot of stuff done. Here are some ideas i've been thinkin about as wedding favors......

~potted herbs~

~a customized candy bar ~ free download for wrapper  here

~chalkboard painted magnets~
( use them for guests names then they can take them home)

~a smores kit~
(these would be great since we can have a bonfire at our reception site)

~ a lil white pumpkin~
I'm already using these for part of our decorations.
How sweet would it be for people just to grab em out of a big basket?
Or maybe a packet of pumpkin seeds?

~cupcake in a jar~
What? yes, best for last... these would be alot of work but... dang they are sooo cool.

~Oh So Good~

Today I got an out-of-this-world facial. I traded it for a massage since I still do it part-time. The lovely lady giving my facial told me I should just put canned pumpkin on my face straight! I've worked in 2 spas and this was the first I had heard of it. I said "yum!sold!" I felt a teensy guilty pampering myself and I felt my lovely readers should do the same..... So here ya go. It's not straight canned pumpkin , but.... wow it sounds as good as it probably smells! Enjoy! And don't worry about getting some in your mouth;)

Pumpkin makes an excellent face mask ingredient for all skin types, especially environmentally damaged or sensitive skin. High in Vitamin A (skin healing), C (anti-oxidant) and Zinc, the pumpkin soothes, moisturizes and acts as a carrier, assisting the other mask ingredients to absorb deeper into the skin and intensifying the results.
Give your skin this healing mask for a healthy glow!
Pumpkin Pie Face Mask
Ingredients
2 teaspoons cooked or canned pumpkin, pureed (see above for benefits)
one-half teaspoon honey (humectant, regenerative)
one-quarter teaspoon milk (or soymilk)(alpha hydroxyl acid, enzymes digest skin cells)
Optional Ingredients
For Dry Skin
one-quarter teaspoon heavy whipping cream (moisturizing; alpha hydroxy acid)
-or-
one-half teaspoon brown sugar (exfoliates, moisturizes, alpha hydroxyl acid)
For Oily Skin
one-quarter teaspoon apple cider (tonic action promotes skin circulation; alpha hydroxyl acid; regulates pH).
-or-
one-quarter teaspoon cranberry juice (high in antioxidants critically important to the utilization of essential fatty acids to maintain balanced, nourished skin.
Directions
Combine the ingredients for your facemask. Mix gently and apply to your face avoiding the eye area. Rest and relax for 10-15 minutes while your pumpkin pie facemask gently exfoliates, nourishes and conditions your face. Rinse with warm water and apply the appropriate moisturizer for your skin type.

~Feed Me Something Sunday~

*sigh**bigger sigh* Do ever have a perfectly planned day and it ends up being super funky(in a totally bad way)? That's what happened to us today. It started off with my cleaning SNOW(fudge 1) off my car. I went to get donuts(the delivery truck was late so they had slim picken'-fudge 2) and paper(stolen coupons!= fudge 3). We had a nice&lazy but short morning then i went to start my day: thrifting, an itsy bit o'cleanin, laundry, good home cooked dinner, and a family pic outside with those purty spring blooms. So I hop in the shower and I'm welcomed with icy cold water(booo.-fudge 4) We spent the better part of the day messing with it and found out we needed a new thermacouple(sounds romantic right? wrong-fudge 5) anywho... to stop all the whining and wrap it up this is my yummy-sometimes life don't go your way-expect the unexpected-you can't always get want what ya want so sometimes ya get donuts instead -post. Enjoy what is left of your Sunday and check out this fancy-schmancy donut maker so that you can always be prepared for a funky day.

Moses got a scholarship for Graphic Arts at Camp Woodward in Woodward,PA!
He will be going sometime this summer. I let him open the letter after track practice and unfortunately I didnt have my camera to capture his happy lit up awesome tween face(I took a very good mental picture though). He is super excited and I'm so happy for him! He really deserves it! Check out all the camp has to offer by clicking my Camp Woodward button on the right or here. I'm over the moon proud of him and I know he will blow their minds with his creativity.

~Feed Me Something Sunday~

Today we are going to Brian's parents to celebrate his birthday with a big dinner. Brian's mom is an incredible cook and she's super sweet to boot. I like to try and make this little number whenever there is a get together over there. I make enough for a couple and then we have at least one here to munch on.

Hawaiian"Comeoniwannaeatcha" Cheese Ball

What you will need:
1 can of crushed pineapple( drain and then squeeze it to get most the juice out of it)
1 bunch of green onions finely chopped
3 bars of reduced fat cream cheese(close to room temp)
1 large bag of pecan chips
*serve with 1 or 2 boxes of Reduced Fat Wheat Thins

How to do it: mix everything but the pecans in a large bowl with a spatula until its evenly mixed. hand form the balls(should make 3 large ones) and yes i just said "hand form the balls" teehee. empty half the bag of pecan chips onto a large plate then roll the balls so that they are evenly covered with the pecans. let chill or  eat immediately. I serve it with Reduced Fat Wheat Thins.please remember to breathe. also please remember the pecan chips do not change much throughout the digestion process. Sensitive bums beware.

this recipe was given to me by my dear friend Abbie. She calls it a Hawaiian CheeseBall. I've altered the name but not the recipe.

~Feed Me Something Sunday~

Sundays are reserved for cleaning, chillin, reading, band practice, and cooking something awesome. Today I made Beef Stew n Dumplinz' (a family favorite around here with the guys)
Ingredients:
a pack of stew meat(we use about a pound)
4 to 5 roughly chopped potatoes
a couple handfuls of baby carrots
3 to 4 celery stalks roughly chopped
1 can of fat free cream of mushroom soup
1 large jar of beef gravy
pepper n salt n a couple sprinkles of mrs. dash
optional: ive also added mushrooms, limas, corn etc. you can put pretty much anything in and it will be totally tasty

Dumplinz': follow the bisquick recipe on tha box fools! i ain't no Martha Stewart!

Directions: put all ingredients in slow cooker on low for 6 to 8 hours. in the last 30 minutes plop in dumplin mixture and let rise on top of the stew. leave the lid on the slow cooker as much as possible so that the heat and steam cook the dumplins and keep em moist. this recipe feeds me, my 13 year hungry teen, and my Mr. with just a teeny bit a left overs. this recipe can be doubled but your slow cooker may take longer.enjoy with some sweet tea, some records(we take turns picking) and a game afterwards. we like some Wii bowling but since its nice out we may toss around the frisbee!
