~Currently Kindle Wednesday~

a story that will make you appreciate your messed up childhood. This is a wonderful book and Ive heard her book Half broke Horses is equally as reality gripping.  I'm thinking of starting the Hunger Games trilogy soon.... Moses read them in school and really liked them. I go thru phases with my reading.... I devour an author's lifetime of work in sometimes a week. It's quite pigish of me and so I've slowed down. But I do go thru some weird themes.. trilogys, shocking reality, outdoor adventure, straight historical, select authors, etc. Right now I'd say I'm on a woman power kick although I'm not sure that is something I would have ever sought out. It's just a personal observation. Now I know I keep saying this but let's get these post back in sync and with some kind of rhythm.

~ Easy Like Sunday Morning~

~ a lady in waiting~
the past few weeks have flown by and I guess it's because I spent most of last week sick. I feel like all my Easter fun/blog posts have been put on the back burner but we have had so much exciting stuff happening that we haven't had time(or want) to be upset about it. First,  I should freshn you guys up on my lovely life.Brian and I have known since the beginning that we would never be apart and have always planned on getting married and havin this lil family grow a teensy bit more.... we started slow but our hearts beat fast and...well.... here we are today. In June we decided on a date with only one part of the plan. We wanted to get married on Blennerhassett Island in the Fall with an intimate gathering of family and friends. In July, we put the small fee down on the park and in early Sept. I got ahold of a guy to make fresh pressed apple cider during our wedding day. In October, he found the ring and Brian has been holding off for our perfect moment so that we could celebrate our love in private with just each other as the world around us was still in a spring quiet. We held each other Sunday morning at Fort Boreman as we looked at our little island waiting patiently for us, we took in the fresh air and early sunshine, sweet promises were spoken, then he gave me my ring. I know I have said before about how blessed I am but I can't put in words how fortunate I have become. My family has always been so supportive and amazing. Since I've met Brian's family they have welcomed Moses and I with open arms and nothing more. That has been so reassuring that this is the life I've been waiting for. I feel like I'm so lucky to have yet another family to call my own soon.

                       ~ Street Performers~

I think street performers are just utterly amazing and deserve so much love. I had a million videos to pick from but something about this guy was extra charming. Next time you are out and see a street performer stop and at least listen. They are the ones playing the soundtrack for the world.

~Oh So Good~

Ladies n gents, I found my marbles. finally. on a day like today. my first real spring break day. I went outside to enjoy the muddy yard and fresh air. I saw something shiny... i started digging....and there they were... my marbles. a lil muddy, a lil cruddy, but there were lots n lots. they huddled together and waited for me to find em. and i did.
* on a side note- i'm a digger.i think it was from watching goonies as a kid and starting out my life in an old town in illinois that was pretty involved with the a deep history for Native Americans(check out this link) I'm always looking for pieces of the past-old bottles, anything buried and forgotten, especially my marbles....(we even have a metal detector)
*on another side note- our house was built on an old dumping site.some say eww. I say yay! I might also add I know this drives Brian crazy but he loves me and puts up with my digger ways.
~ spring peepers~

~ only a handful(there is easily a truck load)~

~ my hands look so weird here... but my marbles look pretty dang fancy~

~ hello friends~

sorry for all the radio silence... we have been really sick and this is the first day I haven't had a fever. I'll be catching up on posts after I do some housework, laundry and tidy up our basement that has been not responding kindly to all the rain. Hopefully I will get to have some fun on this springbreak before it's over! Tonight we are making homemade pizza and planning on some relaxing non-sick time. See you guys soon!

Happy Week Dear Friends. Do Some Things You Really Like.

~Fix Me Something Sunday~

Today we did yard work most of the day! But, before we did, Brian and I got up and went to Starbucks then took a nice Sunday morning stroll dtown. We took a peek through the point park gate and we could see the island!!(I'm so excited!) It was lovely and nice and he even picked me a tulip. What a romantic gesture ;) I'm very sorry for gushing about him sometimes...I'm sure it might be somewhat annoying to some.... but he really is the sweetest guy plus his beard is pretty stylin'. I'm pretty wore out but I did have enough energy to make Something for Sunday.....

~Banana-Nana-Fo-Fanna-Triple-Berry Bread~

Mix together thoroughly{2/3 cup of sugar,1/3 cup of soft shortening(not melted),2 eggs}

Stir In{ 3T. sour milk or buttermilk, 1 cup of mashed bananas}* substitute 1 cup of buttermilk by adding 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar plus milk to make a cup(you only need 3 T. for recipe)

Sift together& stir in( stir as little as possible) {2 cups of sifted flour,1t. baking powder,1/2 t. baking soda, 1/2 t. of salt}

Blend in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts(optional)

Pour into well greased loaf pan. Sprinkle frozen mixed berries(around 1 cup) on top of the batter. Let sit for 20 minutes before baking.

Bake @ 350 50-60 minutes

Don't stir it alot it makes it tough! It should look lumpy and kinda gross;)
I'm sure glad I wasn't feeling like her today.

~ Make sure you sample whatcha make!~

Yum!

~Fyi it's a Diy~

On Monday when we were cleaning I did a little spring decorating with a vintagey tablecloth and some antique bottles(wedding sneak peek people) and some springtime blossoms. Here's a quick diy for a pretty spring table.

~start with some randomly picked flowers according to how big you want your display.
Use some antique bottles you have laying around for vases. Regular glass bottles or vintage juice glasses would work too. I dug the coca cola bottle up last summer when I was mowing and saw the tip of it sticking out of the ground!~

~clean off any buds, blooms, or leaves from the base of the stem with a pair of scissors~

~Start playing with how you want your arrangement to look. I like to keep one large bloom in a vase with a bunch of smaller ones jammed together in a smaller bottle.~

~Lay down a favorite old table cloth or large doilie. I would advise ironing it first but mine has been packed up for almost a year. Plus it never stays clean enough to enjoy for long. There. Wrinkles justified.~

~Add your homemade flower arrangement and have a cup of coffee at your pretty table while enjoying the spring rain~

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. All my love.

~Crafting With Tweens~

Easter Project~Part One

supplies needed:

*an assortment of paint swatches (bright spring colors)
*one adorable tween volunteer
a free printable egg template
* a good pair of scissors
* a carton of icecream...( we buy generic.. tweens have a rule of thumb that they will eat generally anything)
*a small hole punch
* white nylon bead thread
*some random buttons(optional)
* and if you are crazy busy like us a couple nights to finish this project!

oh my! So lovely!
~one happy helpful crafty tween~ ehhmm....

~much better~

trace your egg template on the back of the swatches.
use the lines as a guide if you are picky and care if they are even.

~let said "volunteer" take many high calorie breaks
(remember to be cautious of a tween out of there regular secluded enviroment of the bedroom)

~ a peek at your eggcellent project~
make sure you joke about the ridiculous color names because it's alot of fun

~ EEP!! How cool! I can't wait to show ya the finished project!~

The bottom banner is something I added to go with the project. Freehand a banner type triangle onto the backs of the larger swatches you see in the top photo. the little circles are already made to be removable so I just popped em out and glued em on the triangles! Easy Peasy! you can also use the larger samples for your eggs if you prefer them one color.

~Currently Kindle Wednesday~

I read this book a little over a year ago and just absolutely loved it. In fact it was almost my first kindle post. I decided not to do it since I read it barepaperback but then today I saw a trailer for the movie!! With Reese Witherspoon!? The book was not what I expected at all(so sorry, I'm not saying anything).....  anyway I had to spill the beans and tell you the book is fantastic even though I can't vouch for the movie. You really should read it and enjoy it so you can say it's so much better than the movie and really mean it. Because if it's anything like Time Traveler's Wife (which I've read multiple times) the book really was best. I had a really craptastic day at work today, then a very long track meet,  came home late to cook dinner and our water was off because the line broke down the street, then I had to freeze(with a Dr. Freeze kit from drugstore) Moses's wart on his hand that he has fondly named Hogwart's and the little wart beside the giant wart is Hagrid's Hut. Goodness me I am beat down and I never enjoyed any of this awesome weather today. Tommorrow I will be back refreshed with an awesome spring craft post we worked on yesterday. Sleep well~m           P.S. get your own book by clicking on this link.......

~ Happy lil' Home ~

Dreaming of mirrors.... Brian and I have been casually talking about how we want to decorate our new home once we get in it. I have a small(4) collection of mirrors I've been trying to grow for a long time. We both think this is a really neat idea and I'm super pumped to do it. In the meantime, I have tons of stuff I would love to just get rid of(burn) so I really need to focus on selling and donating(yes, i went thru stuff last night thank you very much)
